Set alongside the western edge of the mountain range, McDowell Mountain Regional Park is over 20,000 acres in size, offering a vast expanse of unspoiled Sonoran desert and excellent outdoor recreational opportunities. It has more than 40 miles of trails open for hiking, biking and horseback riding, ranging from flat, short paths to arduous climbs and descents. Also providing nearly 80 camping and RV spaces, picnic areas and shower facilities, the park is ideal for a multi-day vacation. It sits about 7 miles north of Fountain Hills, an isolated eastern suburb of Scottsdale.
